This was the first article I wrote for The Muse and my first live story. Although stressful, this experience taught me a lot. I learned how to prepare for live stories, how to interview on the spot, and how to write articles with a time crunch. This was also my first time going through The Muse editing process, so I was able to take the critiques I got for this first article with me to make myself a better writer. I was so proud when this article was first published, and it still means a lot to me today.

This was the first story I co-wrote with someone else. Although my second live story, this felt like my first true live story, as we were able to get it up on the website in less than 48 hours after the event. I remember putting a lot of work into this story, and when I saw it on the website, I felt like it truly paid off in the end. I learned a lot about writing with other people and working with people who have writing styles different than mine through writing this article.

This was the first profile I wrote for The Muse and also the first article I wrote for an official web cycle. From writing this article, I learned about scheduling interviews, communicating with editors and other team members to produce cohesive content, and (above all) working with deadlines. With this profile, I feel I was really able to show the subject's personality through strong quotes and a Q&A section I worked with the web team on.

This was the first opinion piece I ever wrote. After my first few articles, some editors told me that I should try writing an opinion piece due to how my voice had shone through in other articles, but I was a little hesitant as I had never written an opinion piece before. However, when I finally tried it, I found that I enjoyed writing opinion articles. Although I learned a lot from writing this piece, I know I still have a lot to learn about writing opinion pieces looking back on this article.

Writing this article made me feel like I had truly found my journalistic style and voice. I was able to make my interviews conversational and light so that I could get authentic, impactful quotes from those I interviewed. I also feel like writing this story helped me figure out how to structure articles, which was something I had struggled with when writing previous articles. I truly enjoyed researching and writing this article, and when I finished typing up the first draft, I knew that it would quickly become one of my favorites.

This is by far my favorite article I've ever written. I put a lot of work into the planning of this article, making sure to get interviews from people with all different backgrounds in math and all different viewpoints and I got statistics from the school to make sure I was covering every facet of the issue. I went really in-depth on this piece and found that I really enjoyed writing these types of investigative stories. I felt like I was able to really represent all different viewpoints and dig into the meat of the angle, and publishing this story was a really proud moment for me.

This was the first time I had written alternative copy for web (and in general). Writing this article was definitely a little stressful, since not a lot of people dressed up so I had to run around the cafeteria and media center looking for people to interview. But it was also fun getting to see and hear the back story behind everyone's costumes. It was also exciting to get to help weigh in on the formatting of the story, since having it be alternative copy meant we could play around with how it looked on web.

I love doing crosswords so being able to make one was a really fun opportunity for me. Making this crossword and seeing the engagement it got with my friends and the people around me made me want to explore the world of alternative copy more. In the future, I hope we can implement more crosswords into stories to make stories more interactive, and also upload more stand-alone crosswords to introduce some fun to the website.

This was my first time doing live coverage for spirit week, so I was definitely a little overwhelmed the day of coverage. However, because I had already done a quote collection before and had done some research and interviews beforehand, I was definitely less stressed than I would have been if I went in without any preparation. My editor and I also worked to play around with the formatting of the article on web to accentuate the photos, which was an interesting experience.

With this story, I got to cover Ramadan and fasting Muslim students. I was really excited to cover this topic because I knew that I would get to represent a section of the student body that doesn't often get covered, and I was happy I got the change to represent them for The Muse. Sourcing interviews for this story was a bit difficult due to the small population of Muslim students at the school, but after I was able to find people to interview, the story went smoothly, and the interviews I got were telling of the experience of being a Muslim student during Ramadan.
